The Fitness Gadget of Choice

I have spent hours (and I mean hours) trying to figure out whether I should upgrade from my polar F6 heart rate monitor or get a pedometer. In the end, I decided that I will get a pedometer because I already have an hrm and combined they should work well.

Now, once the decision to get the pedometer was made – the world most important question was – which one should I get? What type? which technology, etc. etc. I very quickly decided that I wanted one that I could wear on my wrist .

The options of the wrist pedometer are few and I was able to find only four. However, in my case only two were real competitors – Jawbone UP or Fitbit Flex (the link actually takes you to a real comparison of the two devices). I was in love and I mean love with the Jawbone Up’s design. It looked like a funky bracelet and not an entry to the concert band (which is what a I think Fitbit Flex looks like).

But Alas, there are no first sight loves anymore. I had to go and do research and compare prices and all the other stuff we do in the modern consumer savvy world. I finally decided both had issues and liking one personal preference. However, opinion on UP were more erratic – people either loved it or it just stopped working. NOW that can’t be a good thing. It was also sadly the more expensive of the two option and not an option I wanted to spend money on to see it fail.

So, I ended up getting Flex and decided to become an space cadet. I am still waiting for it to arrive in the mail so can’t really say anything else about it.

Now, no great story is finished without twist, so here is an interesting one – I went to the gym and they were having a raffle for some animal charity. I entered it and guess what I won –   Ozeri 4x3razor Digital Pocket 3D Pedometer  (this an old review but I thought it was quiet good).  I have a pedometer on my wrist and another around the neck – I just have to walk.

Ahh, but what about a story with a double twist? Well, here is one so once I have two pedometers, my HRM decided to die. It would not work. It does not respond and does not do anything else. It is just dead.

So now I have two pedometers and no hrm.

Should have just updated the hrm.
